Whether you want to share a favorite track on custom merchandise, drop a code in a presentation, or send a personalized music card to a friend, generating a Spotify Code (Spotify’s version of a QR code) is quick and easy. Unlike traditional square QR codes, Spotify Codes look like a soundwave underneath the album artwork, making them sleek and visually appealing.
Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Your Song’s Code
Getting the code for any track, album, artist, or playlist takes just a few seconds depending on the device you are using:
On Mobile (iOS & Android)
- Open the Spotify app and find the song you want.
- Tap the three dots (…) next to the song title (or tap the artwork while playing to expand the player view, then tap the three dots in the top right corner).
- Look right below the album artwork—you will see a preview of the Spotify Code (the soundwave bar with a Spotify logo).
- Tap the code to enlarge it, then tap Save to photos to download it as an image file.
On Desktop or Web Player
- Click the three dots (…) next to the track name.
- Hover over Share.
- Select Show Spotify Code (or Spotify Code). A pop-up window will display the code and album art.
- Click Save to download the image to your computer.
Alternative: Using the Official Spotify Codes Website
If you don’t want to dig through the app menus, you can generate custom codes instantly online via spotifycodes.com:
- Copy the Spotify URI or Share Link of the song (right-click the song, go to Share, and select Copy Song Link).
- Paste the link into the box on the Spotify Codes website.
- Customize the background color, bar color, and file format (PNG, JPEG, or SVG).
- Click Get Code to download it directly.
How to Scan a Spotify Code
Once you have your code, scanning it is just as simple:
- Open the Spotify app on your phone.
- Tap the Search tab.
- Tap the camera icon in the search bar.
- Point your camera at the code or select a saved image from your photo library to instantly play the track.
